”I was very good today! I am happy that I won the medal race. At the beginning of the week I had some problems with getting more speed, but today it went really well. That I had no speed was also because there was less wind and I was testing some new material. Besides that, I’m still making a lot of hours for the Olympics, so I’m a bit tired. Nevertheless, I could do a lot in Medemblik and practice well. So now rest well for Tokyo.
It was very important for me that the Allianz Regatta could still be held. Now I had the opportunity to race again and duel with foreign surfers. And I am building up race rhythm again. Keeping that structure is very important for me. And it is just good to sail against these top-10 worthy opponents. So every race here could be the medal race at the Olympics.
That makes it very challenging. You have to cover for each other more, because there are so few of us. That is sometimes frustrating, but it was a very good training.”
